IPL 2025 Suspended Indefinitely Amid Growing India-Pakistan Border Tensions

IPL 2025 Suspended

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 9 (Friday) suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 indefinitely in the wake of continuous border tensions between India and Pakistan ever since the launch of Operation Sindoor by the Indian government on May 7.

On May 7 itself, as a precautionary measure, the IPL governing council had announced that it will shift the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), scheduled for May 11 in Dharamsala.

On May 8, it did shift the game to Ahmedabad, but the other match in Dharamsala, played on May 8, also had to be called-off due to security reasons.

BCCI Secretary, Devjit Saikia, after the cancellation of the game said, “We have abandoned Thursday’s match considering the security of the players, officials and spectators.”

“There’s no direct threat in Dharamshala but in view of developments in nearby areas, we’ve taken this precautionary call,” he added in his statement to TOI.
