The Allegations: Vipendra Singh’s Account

The incident revolves around a formal complaint lodged by 31-year-old Vipendra Singh Tomar, a native of the Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Tomar moved to Bhopal after an acquaintance helped him secure a job as a cook at the Singh family’s bungalow in the Neelbad area. He was allegedly promised a monthly salary of ₹15,000, along with free food, accommodation, and future assistance in securing a government job.

Tomar claims that he arrived on June 25, 2026, but the working environment quickly became hostile. According to his account:

  • Verbal Abuse: Arguments frequently erupted over the quality of the food he prepared.

  • Confiscation of Phone: When Tomar expressed his desire to quit due to the alleged abusive atmosphere, his mobile phone was forcibly taken to prevent him from contacting anyone.

  • Physical Assault: After locking himself inside a room for safety, Tomar alleges that Shashank Singh, his father (Shailesh Singh, a retired Special Director General of Police), and their driver forced open the door, severely beat him, and then evicted him from the premises.

Tomar also claims he underwent a medical examination which confirmed visible injury marks on his face and body.

The Defense: Shashank Singh Denies the Charges

Shashank Singh, an all-rounder for the Punjab Kings, has vehemently denied all accusations, calling them “completely baseless and malicious.”

According to the cricketer, the situation unfolded entirely differently:

  • Incompetence and Misconduct: Shashank stated that Tomar did not actually know how to cook. Furthermore, the family allegedly caught him secretly taking pictures and shooting videos of different rooms in their private residence.

  • Intoxication and Theft: Shashank claimed that on the morning of June 28, Tomar appeared to be drunk and was caught stealing.

  • Humanitarian Grounds: The family says they considered calling the police, but Tomar pleaded with them and started crying. They claim they let him go on humanitarian grounds to avoid ruining his future, simply choosing to fire him instead.

Shashank has stated that his family “never even touched or abused him” and suggested that if the police investigate further, recovering data from Tomar’s phone will clarify what truly happened.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

Based on Vipendra Singh Tomar’s complaint, the Ratibad Police Station in Bhopal registered an FIR against Shashank Singh, Shailesh Singh, and their driver, identified as Mishra.

The case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:

  • Section 296(B): Obscene acts and verbal abuse in a public place.

  • Section 115(2): Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt.

  • Section 3(5): Joint criminal liability.

Local authorities have confirmed that statements are being recorded, and further actions will be determined based on the medical report and ongoing investigations. At this stage, the police have not reached any formal conclusions.
